- A shooting incident in Stevens Point has taken a strange twist. Authorities say a 23-year-old woman accused of shooting the 50-year-old man had been hired by the victim's wife to kill him, but he survived despite being wounded four times. Now the wife, the 23-year-old and a 25-year-old man are being held on $50,000 cash bond each that was set Thursday, pending formal charges in the case.

- Investigators say new testimony from an important witness and a diver's recovery of a handgun were keys to charging a Hatfield man with murdering his ex-wife.
Jackson County Sheriff's Sgt. Pat LaBarbera said a man who was in the Sidie house when the killing happened admitted on Saturday that he knew she had been killed, even though he didn't witness the murder. Around the same time, Gary George of the Jackson County Dive Team found a handgun in Morrison Creek.

RHINELANDER - More than a half million people are looking forward to tomorrow. That's because it's the season opener of the gun deer season.
It's been a busy few weeks here at Mel's Trading Post in Rhinelander.
Hunters are piling into the store to pick up all they'll need for the season opener this Saturday.
Greg Graves, the Manager of Mel's Trading Post, says "It's a way of life. We've been doing it for years and years and years."

WAUSAU - With two days to go before Wisconsin's tradition-steeped deer hunt begins, the state says license sales are on track to equal what were sold a year ago despite the sour economy. Department of Natural Resources licensing administrator Diane Brookbank says 510,527 licenses were sold as of midnight Wednesday and she was confident nearly 120,000 more will be issued before Saturday morning.

MADISON - A Northwoods county is listed as one of the "least healthiest places" in all of Wisconsin. The UW Population Health Institute's 2008 County Health Rankings Report is out. The 6th annual report gives a "health check-up" of all 72 Wisconsin counties and the city of Milwaukee.
